Ripple Marquetry Folding Screen with Travertine Base

Each panel is laid in a thin-wood marquetry of black walnut and oak, a traditional inlay craft, in nested squares that spread like ripples on water; a small brass dot marks each centre. The base is a slab of cream travertine that gives the screen a settled, wabi-sabi footing. Not a partition so much as an artwork that stands in the room.
