Visiting Foshan, Guangdong

Foshan Furniture: Plan Your First Buying Trip

Foshan offers plenty to see. The harder part is knowing which stops will help you buy. Here is how to combine Lecong showrooms, factory appointments and sample reviews around the furniture you need.

Before you book

What makes a Foshan trip useful?

You can compare furniture, discuss materials and meet manufacturers within one region. That is useful when you need pieces from several suppliers, or when you want to see a sample before approving a custom order.

Imagine leaving several showrooms with photographs of three similar sofas. Back at the hotel, you cannot tell which quote belongs to which fabric or frame. Keeping the model, seller and finish choice together from the first visit makes the comparison easier.

Guangdong’s manufacturing policy identifies Lecong and Longjiang as furniture hubs. For your trip, the useful distinction is simple: Lecong is a place to compare what you like; Longjiang is a place to discuss how furniture and materials are made.

Showrooms and workshops

Lecong or Longjiang: where should you go first?

If you are still choosing styles, showroom time is useful. If you already have a shortlist and need answers about construction or custom sizes, a factory appointment has a clearer purpose.

The areas overlap in practice. A showroom can represent a factory elsewhere, and a manufacturer may have its own showroom. Confirm what you will be able to see at the address you are visiting.

Find the pieces and finishes you like

Compare styles, comfort, finishes and price levels across different collections. You can narrow a broad shopping list before spending time on detailed production questions.

A display price still needs an explanation: is the piece available, can it be changed, and what does the seller include?

Find out how your chosen piece can be made

An arranged workshop visit can make frames, foam, fabrics, timber and hardware easier to discuss. Bring the actual item reference, dimensions and changes you want.

The question is whether that producer can make your quantity to the agreed sample and schedule—not how impressive the general tour looks.

A showroom helps you choose. A factory visit should help you understand what you are choosing.

The Shunde government’s town profile describes Lecong’s furniture sales role and Longjiang’s manufacturing and materials role. Library photographs illustrate showroom and workshop activities; they do not identify the address of a recommended supplier.

Your shopping list

What can you look for in Foshan?

A varied order may involve several specialists. The advantage is being able to coordinate them within one region, not expecting a single factory to make everything.

01

Living & dining

Sofas, lounge chairs, tables, dining chairs, sideboards and complementary pieces, including made-to-order dimensions and upholstery.

02

Bedroom & storage

Beds, nightstands, dressers, wardrobes and loose storage, with coordinated veneers, lacquers, hardware and upholstery.

03

Cabinets & built-ins

Kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, wall panels and doors. These need reliable site measurements and agreed drawings as well as finish choices.

04

Hotels & commercial spaces

Rooms, restaurants and public areas need samples that suppliers can reproduce consistently. Prepare a hotel furniture brief before visiting.

05

Outdoor

Aluminium, teak, rope and fabrics need to fit the climate and maintenance plan. Use the outdoor furniture checklist to define exposure before selection.

06

Lighting & finishing touches

Pendants, floor lamps, mirrors, rugs and decor can join the order. Some may be made in other specialist regions, so collection needs planning.

Who does what?

Do you need a market visit, a factory or a project team?

You may need more than one. A showroom can help you choose a sofa, while a coordinator handles that sofa alongside pieces from other suppliers. The important part is knowing who is responsible for each promise.

Give each stop on your trip a purpose

Use the showroom to narrow your choices, then spend factory time on the pieces you are seriously considering.

  1. Decide what you need

Separate must-have items from ideas you are still exploring. Book the appointments that help with your main questions.

  2. Compare in Lecong

Note model numbers, sizes, finishes and what each price includes so you can compare the pieces later.

  3. Visit the relevant factory

Take your shortlisted models and drawings. Ask how those particular pieces will be made.

  4. Follow up before ordering

Ask a named contact for any missing dimensions, material details or sample. Keep their answers with the quote.

Keep in mindPhotograph the model label as well as the furniture, with permission. Back home, you need to know which seller and quote each photo belongs to.

A decision sequence, not a driving route or fixed-day itinerary. Confirm each address; showroom and production locations may differ.

Planning your days

How much should you try to fit into the trip?

A useful visit leaves time to compare what you have seen. Start with your rooms, quantities, reference images and budget. Then arrange the stops that can answer the questions still open.

For each appointment, keep the Chinese business name, map pin, building or floor, contact and time together. A factory may be nowhere near its showroom.

Leave room for comparison, not only travel. Keep must-have pieces separate from optional browsing. A shorter list of relevant appointments can give you more time to examine samples and understand quotes.

At a showroom, photograph the piece and its model label with permission. Keep the finish code and price exclusions beside it. At the factory, those same references help you discuss the proposed materials and see the relevant process.

Before leaving, agree who will send the revised quote or sample, and when. You can review the replies and couriered samples together at home. A question that still needs an answer is not a reason to rush a deposit.

A note you can use

Which chair was that quote for?

A simple reference such as LC-01 can connect the photograph, quote and sample request. Here is a hypothetical dining-chair note—not an assessment of a real supplier.

Example record: LC-01 · dining chair candidate
RecordUseful entryDecision status
Product identityModel label photographed; seat and overall dimensions requestedHold until dimensions arrive
Finish and constructionFabric swatch selected; frame material still to be confirmedHold — appearance alone is insufficient
Seller and producerSeller contact recorded; production address and contracting entity requestedVerify before commercial approval
Quote scopeQuantity, finish, currency, packing and collection point requested togetherCompare only after scope matches
Next actionNamed supplier contact to send one revised quotation and sample proposalKeep on shortlist; no purchase approval yet

There are three useful outcomes: move the piece to the next review, wait for a specific answer, or remove it because it cannot meet a must-have requirement. A beautiful display does not answer who will make your order.

Planning around an exhibition? Check the furniture fair calendar separately from permanent showroom appointments. Once the shortlist is ready, follow the order-to-delivery buying workflow.

Remote review works best when everyone is looking at the same drawing and sample reference.

Can’t travel?

You can still review the pieces from home

A local representative can collect model labels, measurements and sample codes for you. A live call helps with questions, while a couriered fabric or finish sample lets you judge what a screen cannot show reliably.

You still decide the final specification and purchase terms. A video tour is useful, but it is not an independent inspection. The factory verification guide explains the checks behind that distinction.

Buyer questions

Foshan furniture FAQ

Why is Foshan important for furniture sourcing?

Foshan brings many showrooms, manufacturers and material suppliers into the same region. You can compare styles, discuss custom changes and arrange production visits as part of one buying trip. You still need to check the particular suppliers behind your order.

What is the difference between Lecong and Longjiang?

Lecong is mainly where buyers compare furniture in markets and showrooms. Longjiang is more closely associated with manufacturing and materials. A trip can use Lecong to narrow the choices, then a relevant factory appointment to discuss how selected pieces are made.

Can buyers visit showrooms and factories in one Foshan trip?

Yes. Plan the appointments before you arrive, and leave time to follow up on the pieces you like. A showroom visit helps you choose; a factory visit should answer questions about the relevant materials, construction and production. Confirm the actual addresses rather than assuming they are next door.

How many days should a Foshan furniture sourcing trip take?

Start with your furniture list and the appointments you need. A few shortlisted items may fit a short visit; a hotel or whole-home order can need more time and samples after you leave. There is no useful fixed day count before the buying list and route are clear.

Is Ratahome a furniture manufacturer?

No. Ratahome is a sourcing and coordination team in Foshan. Separate manufacturers make the furniture. We can help with supplier selection, samples, production follow-up, inspection and delivery, as agreed for your project.
