Upholstery workshop in Foshan during production

Quality control

Seven checkpoints. Nothing ships unseen.

Ordering from overseas means trusting what you cannot see. Every Ratahome order passes seven documented checks — and you approve the photo report before the container is sealed.

7 Quality Checkpoints

One accountable process, from the first material sample to the sealed container. Open any checkpoint to see what is checked and what you receive.

01Material selectionBefore production
Veneer, timber and stone samples laid out for selection

Fabric, veneer, stone and hardware are chosen against a defined standard and your approved sample.

  • Fabrics and leather tested for touch, wear and colourfastness
  • Veneer grain-matched and moisture-checked
  • Stone selected slab by slab for veining and edge quality
  • Blum, Hettich and equivalent European hardware
02Incoming inspectionOn arrival at the workshop
Goose-down cushion filling checked on arrival

Every delivery is checked before it enters production, so a wrong batch never reaches the line.

  • Batch matched to the approved sample
  • Foams, fillings and boards measured for density and thickness
  • Rejected material is returned, not "made to work"
03Production monitoringDuring manufacture
Solid timber table base being shaped in the workshop

Quality is built during production, not inspected only at the end.

  • Frames and joints checked before upholstery or finishing
  • Surface finishing inspected between coats
  • Upholstery tension, seams and stitching reviewed on the bench
04Assembly inspectionFinished piece
Engineered sofa frame ready for assembly inspection

Function, dimensions and detail are reviewed on the assembled piece against your drawings.

  • Dimensions measured against the approved shop drawings
  • Doors, drawers and mechanisms cycled and adjusted
  • Hardware alignment and levelling confirmed
05Final quality checkMulti-angle photo & video
Finished sectional sofa photographed from multiple angles

Every item is photographed and filmed, front and back, in daylight before it is wrapped.

  • Colour and finish compared with the approved sample
  • Defect list resolved before packing — not after arrival
  • Photos and video added to your project record
06Packaging verificationExport standard
Custom plywood export crates outside the workshop

The biggest risk in overseas furniture is transit, so packing is checked item by item against a written standard.

  • Foam, corner protection and moisture barrier on every piece
  • Custom plywood crates; stone on A-frames
  • Bilingual labels and packing list per crate
07Shipment approvalYou sign off
Crate labelling and export documentation before loading

The pre-shipment report goes to you before the container is sealed. Nothing ships until you approve it.

  • Product, detail, packaging and loading photos per order
  • Packing list matched to the crates
  • Shipment approval signed off per project
